I'm sure most of the world has heard by now, about the devastating death of Georgian luger Nodar Muaritashvili. The American luge team had expressed concerned about the speed of the track just moments before Muaritashvili's fatal crash. Apparently, the track is 20km/hr too fast (in reference to a planned maximum of 137km/hr).
Read more about it on the Journal.
Heartfelt condolences to friends and family, and to the Georgian luge team. Without trying to lessen the intensity of this incident, it really does put a damper on this year's Olympics, especially given the "lack of snow" in B.C. right now as well. There seems to be a pile of incidents tipping the scales out of favour for Canada.
